Check your postcode for same-day van delivery
How same day packaging delivery Manchester orders work
The process is short. You tell us what you need and where it is going, we confirm whether your order qualifies for free van delivery, and the order goes on the next run. Anything confirmed after 12pm goes on the following working day's run.
- Check your postcode. Use the postcode checker on our local delivery page for Manchester, or look for your area in the table further down.
- Check your order. Van delivery is free on qualifying orders. Call 0161 706 1246, WhatsApp +44 7466 559897, or email sales@packsolution.co.uk with your postcode and a rough list. The quote form on the local delivery page does the same job.
- Confirm before 12pm. Once the order is confirmed by 12pm on a weekday, it goes out that day.
- Someone receives it. Make sure there is a person at the address to take the delivery, especially for bulky box orders that will not fit through a door in one go.
Van delivery suits orders that are awkward or slow to send by courier. Large flat boxes, mixed orders of boxes plus several rolls of pallet wrap, and anything that would otherwise need a pallet all travel more easily on a van that comes straight from Cheetham Hill. Bulk and pallet orders go by van inside the zone as well.
It is also the quickest way to get cardboard boxes same day delivery when your own stock has run out mid-week. A seller who discovers at 10am that the 12 x 9 x 6" boxes are nearly gone can have more on the bench that afternoon.
Which postcodes are inside the 10-mile van zone?
The zone is measured as a straight line from M8 8HF, not by road. Road distances are longer, so an address that feels like a 13-mile drive may still be inside the 10 miles. The table lists the main areas we cover with their approximate straight-line distance from the unit.
| Area | Postcodes | Approx. distance from M8 8HF |
|---|---|---|
| Manchester city centre | M1 to M4, M60 | About 1 mile |
| Cheetham Hill and Broughton | M8, M7 | Under 2 miles |
| Salford and Salford Quays | M3, M5, M6, M50 | About 1 to 2.5 miles |
| Prestwich | M25 | 2.6 miles |
| Old Trafford and Trafford Park | M16, M17 | 2.9 to 3.7 miles |
| Fallowfield, Chorlton, Levenshulme, Didsbury | M14, M21, M19, M20 | 3.3 to 5.0 miles |
| Stretford, Swinton, Eccles | M32, M27, M30 | 4.0 to 4.6 miles |
| Whitefield and Middleton | M45, M24 | 4.1 to 4.3 miles |
| Chadderton, Oldham, Ashton-under-Lyne | OL9, OL1, OL6 | 5.1 to 6.8 miles |
| Denton, Hyde | M34, SK14 | 5.8 to 8.3 miles |
| Sale, Altrincham, Wythenshawe | M33, WA14, M22 | 6.2 to 8.9 miles |
| Bury, Farnworth | BL9, BL4 | 6.9 to 7.4 miles |
| Stockport and Cheadle | SK1, SK8 | 7.2 to 8.2 miles |
| Bolton (east and south) | BL2, BL3 | 8.9 to 9.1 miles |
| Manchester Airport, Rochdale | M90, OL16 | 9.2 to 9.3 miles |
If your postcode is near the edge of the zone, ask us before you order. We have area pages with more detail on mailing bags and boxes in Salford, pallet wrap in Trafford Park and packing boxes in Stockport.
Van, courier or collect: which should you choose?
There are three ways to get packaging from us in Greater Manchester. Each one suits a different situation, and the right choice usually comes down to how soon you need the stock and how much of it there is.
| Own van | Courier | Click and collect | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Where | Within 10 miles of M8 8HF | UK mainland, any distance | Unit 2, 50 Derby Street, M8 8HF |
| Cut-off | 12pm Mon to Fri for same day delivery | 2pm Mon to Fri for same day dispatch | Usually ready within 2 hours |
| When it arrives | Same day, or next working day after 12pm | Depends on the service: Tracked 48, Express, DPD Next Day or DPD Saturday | When you pick it up during opening hours |
| Cost | Free on qualifying orders; call or WhatsApp to check | Royal Mail Tracked 48 free on every order, no minimum; faster services are paid upgrades at checkout | Free |
| Weekends | No Saturday, Sunday or bank holiday runs | DPD Saturday available as a paid option | Open Sunday 10am to 5pm, closed Saturday |
| Best for | Bulky, urgent or pallet-sized local orders | Small top-ups and addresses outside the zone | Small, urgent orders when you can drive over |
A few practical examples help. A shop in Didsbury that needs 50 boxes and a case of tape by the afternoon should ask for a van. An Etsy seller in Bury who only needs two packs of mailing bags and is happy to wait a couple of days will find free Tracked 48 easier. A removal job in Prestwich that needs bubble wrap the same morning is better off collecting, because the unit is only 2.6 miles away.
Collecting? Order online, choose click and collect at checkout, and wait for confirmation before you set off. The unit is open Monday to Friday 9:30am to 6pm and Sunday 10am to 5pm. It is closed on Saturday.
Cut-off times: 12pm for vans, 2pm for courier dispatch
The two cut-offs are easy to mix up, so it is worth being clear about them.
- 12pm is the van cut-off. A van order confirmed by 12pm on a weekday is delivered the same day inside the 10-mile zone.
- 2pm is the courier dispatch cut-off. A courier order placed by 2pm on a weekday leaves the unit the same working day. That is when it is handed over, not when it arrives. Delivery then depends on the service you chose.
So an order placed at 1pm on a Tuesday will not get a same day van, but if you are happy to use a courier it will still leave the unit that afternoon. For packing boxes same day delivery inside the zone, 12pm is the time that matters.
If you regularly run close to the deadline, set a stock check for mid-morning. Count boxes, tape and void fill at 10am, and you have two hours to get an order in. Our guide to packaging supplies in Manchester covers what most local businesses keep on the shelf.
What happens at weekends and on bank holidays?
The vans run Monday to Friday only. There are no van deliveries on Saturday, Sunday or bank holidays, so plan around these days:
- Friday after 12pm: the order is delivered on Monday, or on Tuesday if Monday is a bank holiday.
- Saturday or Sunday: the order joins Monday's van run.
- Before a bank holiday weekend: order by 12pm on the Thursday or Friday if you need stock for the long weekend.
If something runs out at the weekend, there are two options. You can collect on a Sunday between 10am and 5pm, because the unit is open then. Or, if you can see on a Friday that stock will run short over the weekend, place a courier order by 2pm and choose DPD Saturday, which is a paid upgrade.
Bank holidays catch people out most often in spring, when Easter Monday and the two May bank holidays fall close together. If your business packs orders over those weekends, a Thursday order gives the van a full working day of slack before the break.
Busy weeks need more care. In the run-up to Christmas and other peak periods, local sellers often find that a Friday order is too late. Ordering on a Wednesday or Thursday gives you a buffer if anything needs to be swapped or added.
Outside the zone: Bolton BL1, Wigan, Warrington and beyond
Some Greater Manchester addresses are outside the 10 miles. Bolton town centre (BL1) is about 10.5 miles from the unit in a straight line, so it is just beyond the edge even though the rest of Bolton, BL2 and BL3, sits inside. Wigan, Warrington and Macclesfield are also outside the zone.
For these areas, your choices are courier delivery or collection:
- Royal Mail Tracked 48 is free on every order with no minimum.
- Express, DPD Next Day and DPD Saturday are paid upgrades, priced at checkout.
- Courier orders placed by 2pm Monday to Friday leave the unit the same working day.
Our page for packaging supplies in Bolton sets out exactly which Bolton postcodes get the van and which go by courier. For larger orders outside the zone, our guide to bulk and pallet packaging orders explains how to plan a delivery of that size.
How to get the most from a same day order
A van is most useful when the order is planned properly. These habits save time on both sides.
Send a clear list. Give the product, the size and the quantity for each line. "Fifty 12 x 9 x 6 single wall, six rolls of brown tape 48mm x 66m, two rolls of 500mm small bubble wrap" is far quicker to quote than "some boxes and tape".
Check the box size before ordering. Single wall boxes run from 5 x 5 x 5" to 24 x 18 x 18", and our Single Wall Cardboard Boxes page lists every internal size in inches and millimetres. If you are not sure, our guide on where to buy cardboard boxes in Manchester compares single and double wall for local buyers.
For heavier or fragile stock, double wall cardboard boxes in Manchester are the stronger option, with two layers of fluting and sizes up to 24 x 24 x 24".
Best for heavy, fragile or stacked goods
Double Wall Cardboard Boxes
Two layers of fluting make a stiffer box that takes weight and stacks well.
- 9 x 6 x 6" up to 24 x 24 x 24"
- Sold per box, price falls as you buy more
- Supplied flat
From £0.59 ex VAT (£0.71 inc VAT)
Choose sizeView productAdd the small things. Tape always runs out sooner than boxes. Brown Packing Tape comes in packs of 6 rolls, so adding a pack to a box order costs little and saves a second delivery.
Use mailers for soft goods. Clothing and textiles are lighter and quicker to pack in a bag than a box. Grey mailing bags in Manchester come in 16 sizes, seal without tape, and can ride on the same van as your boxes.
Best for clothing and soft goods
Grey Mailing Bags
Opaque grey polythene mailers with a self-seal strip and a water resistant outer.
- 16 sizes, 4 x 6" to 34 x 42"
- Self-seal, no tape needed
- Packs of 100, 50 or 25 by size
From £2.90 ex VAT (£3.48 inc VAT)
Choose sizeView productThink about protection. For bubble wrap same day delivery, Small Bubble Wrap on 100m rolls covers most fragile items. Browse the full protective packaging range for paper and air cushion options.
Include wrap for pallets. If you are dispatching pallets yourself, pallet wrap same day delivery saves a trip. Clear Pallet Wrap comes in 400mm and 500mm widths, in 20 or 23 micron, and the pallet wrap collection also has black film for loads you want hidden.
Have someone ready. Bulk box orders arrive flat but take up space. Clear a spot by the door and have someone free to sign for and carry the order in.
For the wider range of cardboard boxes and packing tapes, the collection pages show every size and pack option before you ask for a quote.
How do I check if my van delivery is free?
Local van delivery is free on qualifying orders, so check your order before you place it. There are three ways to do that:
- Call 0161 706 1246 during opening hours.
- WhatsApp +44 7466 559897 with your postcode and list.
- Email sales@packsolution.co.uk.
Prices on the website are shown ex VAT, VAT invoices are available, and many products have volume pricing, so the price per pack drops as you order more. Regular buyers can apply for a trade account.
The fastest route is the quote form on our Manchester local delivery page, which also has the postcode checker. Send your postcode and list before 12pm on a weekday and the van can still reach you today.
