Documents enclosed wallets are self-adhesive clear pouches that carry paperwork on the outside of a parcel. The invoice, packing list or delivery note goes inside, the backing peels off, and the wallet sticks to the box or bag. Anyone handling the parcel can read the paperwork through the front without opening anything.
Pack Solution sells them plain or printed Documents Enclosed, in three sizes, boxed in 1000s. Warehouses, exporters and online shops put one on each outgoing order.

What Are Documents Enclosed Wallets?
A documents enclosed wallet is a clear pouch with an adhesive back, made to hold paperwork on the outside of a parcel. It keeps the paperwork with the goods but outside the packaging.
The same thing goes by a few names. A documents enclosed pouch and a documents enclosed envelope are the same product. So is a parcel document pouch: a clear wallet stuck to a parcel.
Paperwork on the outside helps everyone who handles the parcel. The customer can find the invoice without unpacking. A warehouse can check the contents against the packing list without cutting tape. For exports, carriers and customs can see the paperwork they need.
Our Documents Enclosed Wallets have a clear front, so the paperwork can be read without opening the wallet. You peel off the backing and press the wallet onto a box or a mailing bag.
Which Size Document Wallet Do You Need?
Choose the wallet by the size of the paperwork once it is folded. A5 takes an A4 sheet folded once, A6 takes it folded twice and A7 takes small slips.
| Wallet | Wallet size | Holds | Box |
|---|---|---|---|
| A5 document enclosed wallets | 225 x 165mm | A5 sheets flat (148 x 210mm), or an A4 invoice folded once | 1000 wallets |
| A6 document enclosed wallets | 158 x 110mm | An A4 sheet folded twice (105 x 148mm), or an A6 packing slip | 1000 wallets |
| A7 document enclosed wallets | 95 x 125mm | Small receipts, returns slips, A7 cards (74 x 105mm) | 1000 wallets |
All three come plain or printed. The sizes in the table are the wallet dimensions in millimetres.
A5 Wallets for Invoices and Export Paperwork
The A5 wallet is the safe choice for most dispatch lines. An A4 invoice folded once slides in, and so do A5 sheets flat. For customs and export paperwork with several pages, take A5 plain or printed wallets, since a folded bundle needs the extra room.
A6 Document Wallets for Packing Slips
A6 document wallets suit an A4 sheet folded twice or a single A6 packing slip. They take up less room on small boxes and mailing bags. If every order goes out with one folded sheet, A6 is enough.
The A7 wallet is the smallest, for a receipt, a returns slip or a small card.
Plain or Printed: Which Should You Choose?
Printed wallets say Documents Enclosed on the front, so couriers and customers spot the paperwork straight away. Plain wallets leave the front clear.
Choose printed wallets for parcels going to customers, and for anything with customs or delivery paperwork that a carrier needs to find. The printed wording does the signposting for you.
Choose plain for paperwork that is mainly for your own use, such as picking notes on cartons inside the warehouse or pallet paperwork. Plain also suits sellers who want a cleaner look on branded packaging.
Good to know: Our printed wallets carry the words Documents Enclosed. We don't stock wallets printed Invoice Enclosed or Packing List Enclosed. One printed wording covers invoices, packing lists and delivery notes, so you only need to stock one design.
If you want invoice enclosed or packing list enclosed wording, plain wallets work well: the heading on the document itself shows through the clear front.
How to Use a Documents Enclosed Pouch
Fold the paperwork to fit, slide it in, peel the backing and press the wallet onto a flat face of the parcel. It takes a few seconds per order.
- Print the invoice, packing list or delivery note.
- Fold it to the wallet size: once for A5, twice for A6.
- Slide the paperwork into the wallet with the most useful part facing out.
- Peel off the backing.
- Place the wallet on the largest flat face of the parcel, next to the address label.
- Press down from the centre outwards so the edges don't lift.
Fold so the customer's name, order number or the customs details show through the front. That way nobody needs to open the wallet to check which order it is.
Packing Several Documents in One Wallet
Some orders need an invoice, a packing list and a returns form together. Put the sheet the carrier or customer needs first at the front, then fold the rest behind it. If the bundle is too thick to fold neatly into an A6 wallet, move up to A5 rather than forcing it. An overfilled wallet strains at the edges and is more likely to lift.
For returns, you can put the returns form in the wallet on the outside and a copy inside the parcel. That way the customer has a spare if the outer wallet gets torn off in transit.
Where to Stick the Wallet on a Parcel
Stick the wallet on the largest flat face, usually the top of a box, beside the address label. Keep it clear of the barcode, the seams and any tape edges.
On a box, the top panel is the best place. Single wall cardboard boxes give a clean, flat panel for both the address and the wallet. They come in sizes from 5 x 5 x 5" (127 x 127 x 127mm) up to 24 x 18 x 18" (610 x 457 x 457mm), with a minimum of 5 per size, and are supplied flat. The 17.7 x 13.7 x 6" (450 x 350 x 160mm) size matches the Royal Mail Small Parcel maximum.
On a mailing bag, smooth the bag flat before you press the wallet down. Grey mailing bags are opaque, with a self-seal strip and a water resistant outer. Keep the wallet away from the seal so the bag still closes properly. On a small bag, the A6 or A7 wallet leaves room for the address.
Best for printing addresses beside the wallet
A4 Sheet Labels

- Ten layouts, 1 to 65 labels per sheet
- 8 per sheet is 99.1 x 67.7mm
- Boxes of 500 sheets
From £30.00 ex VAT (£36.00 inc VAT)
Choose sizeView product- Don't stick the wallet over the barcode or the address.
- Don't wrap it round a corner or over an edge.
- Wipe dusty or damp surfaces before you stick it down.
- Use one wallet per parcel, and one per carton on a multi-carton order.
Using Shipping Document Pouches in a Warehouse
In a warehouse, a shipping document pouch on every carton keeps paperwork with the goods from picking through to delivery. It saves opening cartons to check contents.
On a busy line, keep boxes of wallets at each packing bench beside the printer and labels. Print the address on A4 Sheet Labels, where the 8 per sheet layout (99.1 x 67.7mm) gives a full address with room to spare. Then fold the packing list into the wallet and put both on the same face of the carton.
For pallets and multi-carton orders, put a wallet on each carton or on the pallet wrap, so the paperwork stays visible. The A5 size takes longer pallet paperwork folded once. A clear document pouch on every carton means anyone at the goods-in door can match the delivery to its paperwork.
Common Mistakes With Document Wallets
- Sticking the wallet over the barcode, so the parcel can't be scanned.
- Choosing a wallet too small for the folded paperwork.
- Putting it on a curved or creased part of a mailing bag, where the edges lift.
- Folding the paperwork so the order number faces inwards.
- Forgetting a wallet on one carton of a multi-carton order.
A box of 1000 lasts a busy line a good while, and the price per box drops as you buy more. For a full list of dispatch essentials, see our packaging supplies checklist.
Document Enclosed Pouches for Exports and Customs
For parcels leaving the UK, carriers usually want customs paperwork on the outside of the parcel. A document pouch for shipping keeps it visible and attached to the right parcel.
Your carrier will tell you which customs forms it needs and how many copies to attach. Follow its instructions and check them before you post. Use A5 wallets for paperwork with several pages, so nothing has to be folded too tightly. Printed Documents Enclosed wallets help carriers find the forms quickly.
Keep a copy of every customs form for your records, in case a parcel is held or returned.
Envelopes for Documents Without a Parcel
A documents enclosed wallet carries paperwork that travels with goods. Documents sent on their own need an envelope instead.
For A4 documents posted flat, read our sibling guide to A4 and C4 envelopes for posting documents. For thick bundles and folders, see the guide to capacity mailers and gusset envelopes. Our postal envelopes guide compares the main options side by side.

Stocking Documents Enclosed Wallets
Most dispatch lines run on one size: A5 if you fold A4 once, A6 if you fold it twice. Add printed wallets for customer orders and plain ones for internal paperwork if you need both. The wallets are in our envelopes collection, address labels are in the labels collection, and orders placed by 2pm Monday to Friday are dispatched the same working day.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are documents enclosed wallets?
They are clear pouches with an adhesive back that stick to the outside of a parcel. You slip the invoice, packing list or delivery note inside, and it can be read through the clear front. Ours come plain or printed Documents Enclosed, in A5, A6 and A7, boxed in 1000s.
Which document wallet fits an A4 invoice?
An A4 invoice folded once (148 x 210mm) fits the A5 wallet, which measures 225 x 165mm. Folded twice (105 x 148mm), it fits the A6 wallet at 158 x 110mm. Use A5 for customs and export paperwork with several pages.
Should I choose plain or printed documents enclosed wallets?
Choose printed if you want the wallet to say Documents Enclosed, so couriers and customers spot the paperwork. Choose plain if the paperwork is for your own use, such as a picking note in the warehouse, or if you prefer a cleaner look.
Do you sell Invoice Enclosed or Packing List Enclosed wallets?
No. Our printed wallets say Documents Enclosed, which covers invoices, packing lists and delivery notes. If you want different wording, use the plain wallets and let the document itself show what it is. The heading on an invoice or packing list reads clearly through the clear front.
Where should a document pouch for shipping go on a parcel?
Stick it on the largest flat face, usually the top of a box, next to the address label. Keep it clear of the barcode, seams and tape edges, and press it down from the centre outwards. On a mailing bag, smooth the bag flat first.
How many wallets are in a box?
Each box holds 1000 wallets, all one size and style. The minimum order is one box, and the price per box falls as you order more. You can order several sizes or both styles in the same order, so A5 and A6 can arrive together.
